ARCHIVE AS A POSSIBLE MANIFESTO

There was a time when archaeology and its method of planning - the archive - were instruments of conservation and institutionalization of a common history - unique and hence totalitarian. History as monument. Humanist philology discovered that due to the collation and analysis of all testimonies - the archive documents - it is possible to trace a single text. A text free of any previous corruption which might have been imposed throughout time: this is what we define as the original. And monuments, schools and governments were founded around this ideal of the original.

Lucas Maassen & Sons Furniture Factory

Lucas Maassen has employed his 3 sons, Thijme (9), Julian (7) and Maris (7). His Sons are responsible for the paint job of the furniture which is build in the factory. They get paid 1 Euro for every piece of furniture they paint. As agreed by the contract they signed. Due to Dutch child labour laws it is only possible for Thijme, Julian and Maris to work for 3 hours a week. As a result of this the production speed has became a crucial factor in the process. Time limitations are set, they contribute to the typical LM&S aesthetics. All furniture is build by hand and painted by hand. link

a proposito del burning man festival, di cui il prof ci ha linkato il video oggi, ecco questo set della fotografa Steph Sgoralnick. (lo so che l'ho già condiviso nel gruppo, ma non tutti i lettori del blog sono membri del gruppo no?)

Ex studente dell'Isia ha intervistato i professori sulla didattica del design.

PARALLEL SCHOOL

Un luogo virtuale che si propone come piattaforma di idee, pensieri e progetti; un luogo di scambio libero sul tema dell’arte e del design, che si propone di superare i confini tra gli istituti universitari, attraverso la partecipazione diretta degli studenti. Questo è Parallel School, progetto nato dall’iniziativa di alcuni studenti dell’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) di Parigi: Damien Fauret, Samuel Bonnet, Samuel Lamidey e Laure Giletti.
Tutto comincia con una lettera che gli studenti inviano ai loro colleghi del Royal College of Art (RCA) di Londra nel dicembre 2009, con la proposta di creare una “scuola parallela”, che possa superare i confini geografici e fungere da catalizzatore di idee tra “studenti di ogni parte del mondo”.
Inizia così un progetto, per definizione stessa dei fondatori, dal percorso “aperto”, che in poco meno di un anno di vita ha visto la realizzazione di workshop, mostre, pubblicazioni, un blog aperto ai contributi di chiunque voglia partecipare e anche un “non-manifesto”...
